We love the organic style and unique beauty of the Twine & Twig jewelry collection. This completely upcycled brand is brought to you by three southern sisters with a mission to spread peace and love one bead at a time. Describe your brand:
Earthy elegance. Statement pieces that are also simple, raw, organic. Twine & Twig is often referenced as "world peace on a necklace" because it is designed with elements from around the world.
How, when, and where did you start your business?
We never sat down and said, "let's start a business!" We created something we wanted for ourselves - something we thought was missing in the industry: a statement necklace that was neutral, organic, and earthy... Not mass produced, shiny, or machine-made. We wanted to design a necklace that told a story and truly captured our style. From there, we were constantly stopped and asked about our jewelry, so the collaboration on the launch of Twine & Twig began in late 2013. Our mission was to create a line of jewelry that reflects our love for natural, organic beauty, as well as our Southern roots. With quality craftsmanship and incredible attention to detail, every Twine & Twig piece is one of a kind, handcrafted, designed by us, and tied to our signature branded suede strap.
Speak about your previous work experience and how it helped you create your own brand:
We are sisters that can compete one another's sentences, yet we each have our own style and unique design background.
Elizabeth: My background is in graphic design and product development. I worked for an all-female company out of Atlanta developing new packaging and designs in the cosmetic industry. I am very visual and artistic by nature, so my intuition is that if I cannot find or buy exactly what I am looking for, then I create and design myself.
Jacquelyn: As a hair stylist for the last ten years, my time has been spent focusing heavily on trends. It is fascinating to see how a look, like ombre, makes its way from hair, to clothes, to make-up. Style is cyclical. As bohemian clothes and tousled hair came into focus, there seemed to be a lack of jewelry to complete that look. Seeing trends come and go in the hair and clothing industries, it was important to me that we created Twine and Twig to be timeless.
What (or who) are some of your endless inspirations?
We are inspired constantly, and a lot of the time, it comes from unexpected places. We grew up in the South, traveling to the beach and to the mountains. Our grandfather knew the name of every shell and we would walk the beaches of Sanibel, FL every summer picking up shells with him. Our company launched with two collections - trail and shore - which now in hindsight seems so fitting. We have five children under the age of eight between us and they inspire us in new ways every day. We love how they cover themselves in in dirt while looking for worms and collecting rocks. The way children view the world is so refreshing and it reminds us daily to get our hands dirty, enjoy every little moment, and to dream big.
How does travel inspire your collection?
Traveling has opened our eyes to so many people and places. We joke that Twine & Twig is "world peace" on a necklace because of the materials coming from near and far countries including Africa, the Philippines, Bali, Indonesia, and the U.S. We pride ourselves on sourcing globally to create a very curated and unique product that speaks to many ages and demographics.
