We are crazy about Jacqueline Lopez’s macrame collection for her Jaline brand. Each one of these savvy designs was woven from natural fibers by artisans in Oaxaca, Mexico. Jacqui has been spending a lot of time in this magical city working on the collection, so we asked her to share her favorite spots for kicking back after work. Read on to know where to go in this picture-perfect town and then shop Jaline’s collection.
What city do you have an endless love affair with?
Oaxaca, Mexico.
Can you share your top spots for eating and drinking in Oaxaca?
Oaxaca is where Jaline was created. This magical city offers everything you can imagine…
My favorite places for food are:
Pittiona for delicious/eccentric food celebrating local produce.
Casa Oaxaca, is a must ,dinner upstairs on the roof top has the best view in town.
La Olla and Cafe Bruja are great for breakfast and lunch.
Luvina is another fantastic restaurant with an interesting menu and great cocktails.
Outside of Oaxaca in the village of Teotitlan del Valle is Tlamanalli, where chef Abigail Mendoza Ruiz and her sisters cook every day. This is a must, not just for the food but also the beautiful surroundings.
Another amazing place outside of the city is Restaurante Azucena Zapotec in the Valle centrales de Oaxaca.
My favorite place to go visit and explore are:
Barrio de Xochimilco, there is a farmers market and little market on the weekends inside the courtyard of the church.
Hierve el Aguais is one of the most breathtaking places I have ever been to. It is about an hour and a half drive but worth it to see a set of natural rock formations that resemble cascades.
Best trip so far?
Oaxaca, not only for the magic of the city but for working with the artisans, which has greatly enriched my life.
