From the start of her life, it was clear that Simone Harouche would find herself entrenched in the fashion industry. Surrounded by a family of designers, Simone learned about the inner workings of the world at a young age. She?s touched countless parts of the fashion world, by consulting on Nicole Ritchie?s line Winter Kate, styling Christina Aguilera in her famous pin up self, regularly dressing Jennifer Lopez, Ashley Tisdale, and Miley Cyrus, while styling for magazines including Glamour, Vanity Fair, and Rolling Stone. Now, Simone is transferring her knowledge of fashion into the design world by creating a limited edition collection of one of a kind handbags called ?Simone Camille."
How would you describe your style?
I would say my style is definitely eclectic- a mix of bohemian and a bit of rock and roll. i love wearing vintage and pairing it with modern statement pieces. I love to mix it up.
What sparked the creation of Simone Camille?
I originally designed a bag for myself because I kept searching vintage stores and the like for a bag that was ethnic, colorful and unique. I really wanted to make something that was eye catching and full of texture. And then my client Nicole Richie fell in love with the bag i had made for myself, so I made one for her.... before long the requests for my bags started pouring in so I launched the Simone Camille Handbag Line.
What is the inspiration for your line of handbags?
I would definitely say the inspiration comes from my love of travel and my love of vintage. I love to travel and discover new places. I know it sounds a bit clich?, but traveling always recharges me creatively. I love that when I?m in new places, I can discover and learn about cultures. I also scavenge stores and flea markets for treasures. I?m always in awe when I discover fabrics that were made over a hundred years ago that where sewn by hand with such intricacy and the detail.
The bags are made from textiles you?ve accumulated from all over the world. Where are a few of your favorite shopping locations?
Hmmmmm- Since I?m a fashion stylist, and shop for a living, naming some of my favorite cities to shop in isn?t too difficult. But, if I had to choose my top 3, I would say, Paris, Tokyo, Rajasthan (see, I told you I like to mix it up)!
