Michelle Ng is the creative genius behind It label Young & Ng. A line of accessories that is at once romantic and vintage-inspired, Michelle's designs are inspired by the thrill of world travel and discovering the unexpected. With even her own personal style motivated by both destinations she has visited and dreams of visiting, it's safe to say Michelle's artistic view is globally adventurous.
I like to see them be treated and portrayed like pieces of art works. I guess the style is as if you went back in time where pieces were created purely with imagination. The feel is for the intelligent philosophical ethereal dreamer.
Um, well I actually got let go of my last creative job, however I was finding that I couldn't find any wearable head pieces. I supposed to just threw myself in there with no plan or thought because I didn't have a choice or a lot of time. However, art has always been my medium and everything else came naturally.
I look for inspiration in things that are timeless, that are still being discovered or cannot be resolved.
These things are always going to be around, and I like to think I incorporate immortality into my work.
That's hard. I have travelled a lot in my life and still continue. I love discovering things!
However, I guess the most inspiring destination would be a destination I am JUST about to discover.
A place I have never been before. The excitement and unknown is inspiring.
Every morning I wake up, I think of a place I would like to be. New Zealand, Capri, Paris or even being inspired by one thought. I know everyone says that but it does make you that little bit excited about being creative and putting together something. My wardrobe is not huge so I do have to be very creative.
However, it always has the consistency of being ethereal, light, intelligent, undiscovered, most importantly being myself.
It was a pair of Miu Miu soft point stilettos in a peach and black fabric with a big bow at the back and the highest/skinniest heel! It has beautiful gold hand stitching effect all around the edges. It wasn't because I bought it on sale or anything but because I had wanted them for so long I saved really hard and hoped every night that they wouldn't sell out as we don't have Miu Miu at home in New Zealand.
After months of planning my trip overseas after university, I made a map of where they might be. They didn't have them in New York, but found them in Paris after a long search.
I still love them so much after 3 years because they always remind me of how hard I worked for them, and that hard work does really pay off. Even though they are extremely high, they keep me grounded and remind me to work harder every day.
