New York designer Miguelina Gambaccini launched her line of chic bohemian wear fifteen years ago, and since then has created a lifestyle brand women turn to for resort wear that can easily transition from day to night. Inspired by her travels abroad, Dominican born Miguelina designs luxurious silk caftans, open-weave gauze dresses, and all-over lace tunics that can be worn over swimwear on the beach or to an evening cocktail party.

What made you decide to focus on your own clothing line?

Travel is a big part of my life. My collections are all about simplifying packing for a vacation. With my collection I have created pieces that can take you to any location and any time of day - from day to evening.

The  kaftans and cover-ups are full of color, defined lines, multiple textures and have a hint of vintage chic. Which inspirations drive your designs?

Most of my inspirations come from my travels and the beautiful places I have visited.  I also find inspiration in photography.

What is your favorite ?Miguelina? outfit and why?

I love my lace caftans; you can wear them as a beach cover up and layer them at night.  Also, my white linen dresses because they are very feminine and a bit romantic like me.

What is next for ?Miguelina??

Our next step is to focus on expanding our resort collection as well as adding more accessories and a bridal collection will be coming very soon.

What is your favorite travel destination and why?

I don?t have ONE favorite destination, but I do love white beaches and the Middle East . Petra is one of my favorite places in the Middle East. I had an unbelievable trip last year. The most memorable part was the camil riding trip in Petra and fabulous Bedouin necklaces I found!

What is your favorite spot to stay and why?

I love Turks and Caicos ! My friends own a whole village there and is almost like being in a private island .I also love Amansala in Tulum because of their bikini boot camp. It is the best way to vacation and get fit at the same time. Also, I love all the Four Seasons Hotels.

 

Which 3 travel essentials can we always find in your suitcase?

I always pack my caftans, swim suits, and a pre-packed beauty case just for my trips with travel sizes of Moroccan oil for my hair , MD solar Sciences sun protection , K-Jacques sandals , a turban and a lots of neon accessories.
