Ipek Irgit, a Turkish fashionista and Julia Chaplin's partner in jetsetting, knows a thing or two about how to travel in style. Ipek has lived in New York for the past ten years working as a brand consultant and working with art direction and production. Ipek and Julia joined forces five years ago when they met on Halloween (Ipek says she likes "people that take Halloween seriously"), and the rest is history. Ipek is the first to point out that she and Julia, both Geminis, share an explorer's spirit. We couldn't help but be converted to the school of astrology when we read that Geminis like to embark on endless adventures together hand-in-hand because that sounds like an exact description of Ipek and Julia. Recently, we got to catch up with the rolling stone, Ipek, about her globetrotter lifestyle.

1. What creative ventures are you working on at the moment?
I have multiple projects going on right now. One involves bringing some beautiful artisanal products from Brazil and Turkey to the U.S. I also have some ideas on taking certain lifestyle concepts from New York to Turkey. I always try to bring those two worlds of mine (NY and Turkey) together but I try not to talk about projects before they happen because I am kind of superstitious about these things.
2. What are your three favorite off-the-beaten track stores in the world?
In New York I really like the new World Order Vintage store on Avenue B. When I travel I like to go and explore local street markets and chit chat with vendors. Next thing you know you may be having an amazing necklace or crochet bikini custom made, while they are feeding you yummy local food at their home.
3. What is your favorite vacation destination? Where do you stay when there?
Brazil and the Aegean coast of Turkey are my favorite vacation destinations. I have been lucky that after living in New York for so long I made friends that live all around the world and I mostly stay at their homes when I travel to foreign countries. In my last trip to Brazil, I fell in love with Corumbau and Trancoso in Bahia and stayed in cute little pousadas. During the summertime in Turkey I stay at our summer house in Cesme and I am always very happy there!
4. How would you describe your personal style?
Once a friend told me that I have a classic style but always with some humor in it. I guess that kind of describes my style. I dress according to my mood - sometimes I catch myself dressing in the colors of a film that I just watched or an art piece that I just admired. I like to mix high and low, care very much about a good tailoring, and love to use ethnic or vintage jewelry. I am not really a diamonds and pearls person - although I like the song - and I am definitely not a jeans and t-shirts person. In fact, I have only two pairs of jeans and maybe two t-shirts and I am rarely seen in them.
5. What are three things you have to bring every time you travel (aside from necessities like phone, wallet, passport, etc.)?
Do eye masks and earplugs count? Haha :) I know it?s not very sexy, but I am a light sleeper and I have to make sure I bring all the aid necessary to avoid being a sleep depreciated cranky whiny bitch. Oh, I also always have an extra travel bag that I fold in my luggage for travel purchases!
6. What are your top three picks from L-atitude?
Wow, this is a really tough one!
