End-of-Summer Festival Fashion

Perhaps it all started in August of 1969, when over 500,000 people flocked to a 600-acre farm in Bethel, New York for Woodstock. Since then, music festivals have found their own stake in popular culture. At any music festival, there are always two shows going on simultaneously: the performer's show on stage, and the fashion show in the audience.

Perhaps it all started in August of 1969, when over 500,000 people flocked to a 600-acre farm in Bethel, New York for Woodstock. Since then, music festivals have found their own stake in popular culture. They are a hub of artistic expression, for both musicians and fans alike. At any music festival, there are always two shows going on simultaneously: the performer's show on stage, and the fashion show in the audience. Music festivals are the ultimate "see and be seen" occasions and people shop for weeks prior to their favorite festival to find just the right outfit.

Every April, fashion blogs are plastered with photos from the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California. The masses have become familiar with the image of bohemian girls and fedora-topped boys with palm trees, a ferris wheel and the mountainous Palm Desert as their back drop. It's even regarded as glamorous. Celebrities sightings are a dime-a-dozen at Coachella, as well as many other music festivals, if you can recognize the starlets under their oversized sunglasses and unconventional semblances. Music festivals have a culture of their own, fostering an environment of free-spirited expression. The combination of celebrity glamour and artistic emphasis leaves little wonder as to why music festivals have made such a mark on society's fashion.
