How does travel inspire your collection?
Travel opens my mind and eyes to different customs, habits, and aesthetics. It exposes me to different and new perspectives and points of view -- it stimulates my creativity and senses. It?s one of the biggest pleasures in life!
Describe the Lokalwear brand in 3 words.
Multicultural, fun and sophisticated. Multiple cultures are the essence of Lokalwear?s DNA and every creation is a reflection of this mixture of influences. I chose "fun" because our pieces have a lot of personality -- each piece is unique. After all, fashion should be fun! It?s about making us feel good and sophisticated all at the same time.
Your collection of products keeps growing. What creative endeavors are on the horizon?
We are currently exploring new raw materials around Brazil and developing our next collection with a new group of Brazilian artisans.
Describe the woman who wears Lokalwear.
The Lokalwear woman is sophisticated, cultured, curious, self confident and open minded. She enjoys new things and appreciates creativity and originality.
Tell us about your favorite piece (or one of them) and where you were inspired to create it
One of my favorite pieces is the Art Deco Richelieu Lace earring. The inspiration came from old Hungarian table cloths and the art deco architecture seen in Budapest. I think this piece features everything I love about design - the mix of materials, comfort, and originality. And it has that wow factor!
What are your upcoming summer travel and/or vacation plans?
I just came back from Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil where I was working with a new group of artisans. I was also in Australia and Los Angeles -- that trip was all about fun and inspiration! My next stop will be New York some time in the late summer or early fall, and I will most likely make a stop in Budapest and Vienna.
