How does travel inspire your collection?

The sounds, colors, sights, and cultural oddities are obvious answers. We discovered very early on that every woman wears her clothes differently, the same jacket or scarf looks wildly different when worn by a New York woman, a French woman or an Indian woman. We started photographing The Middle Around the World?women wearing their cuffs as they traveled. This is now the main feature of our Instagram feed and we get so many amazing photos sent to us from happy clients all over the world!

Strong: These are strong statements pieces?wear one, you will see it's the only accessory you need. 

Sexy: Amazing skins and bold hardware make our pieces hard to miss and always noticeable. 

Essential: Essential is a word I?ve heard from many of our cuff lovers. You start to feel so tough and cool wearing a Middle cuff that they become your staples.

 

 

Your collection of products keeps growing. What creative endeavors are on the horizon?

Our Holiday 2014 line is all about feathers. It seems like a strange thing to say about a line of jewelry that has such incredible hardware, but we wanted to keep a natural element attached to every new style we produce. Our skins are all natural, hand dyed, hand stitched -- and next, we have feathers!

 

Who is your muse? Describe the woman who wears The Middle.

There isn't one muse. In a way, it's an amalgamation of all the best qualities of my partner Cristina and I, and our cool, funny, tough, female friends who have a swagger in their step and the confidence to wear something bold.

 

 

What do you love most about the city you live in? 

I love New York for all the obvious reasons, and even the very personal ones. Most of all, it's because I feel completely at home in a city as vast and ever changing as NYC. I ride my bike everywhere?in almost all weather. I see the dark and light, tall and short, far and near, quiet and loud, angry and happy I see people all dressed up and down, jostling for space, flowing and weaving past one another, which is always wonderfully exhilarating.

 

 

What are your upcoming travel plans?

I'm going to Fire Island for a week to walk around barefoot with friends and their kids! We're also going to Majorca for a friend?s 50th birthday. Then we'll go to Lake Como with family, friends, and many many children. We're also going to Provence for cooking, being with friends and kids, going to farmers markets, playing in the lavender fields, drinking Ros? wines, and taking siestas! Last but not least, we'll go to Germany for the black forest, spas, and long walks.
