Nothing says global luxury like fine linens with artisanal touches especially when holiday guests are constantly shuffling through your door. Our favorite luxury linen brand in Istanbul is Haremlique; we are talking about couture quality linens, many of which adorn the best homes and biggest yachts on the Bosporus.

Drawing on the history of artisan culture in Turkey, Haremlique offers a line of fine bespoke peshtemal towels, Byzantine printed toile pillows and easy chic caftans and travel accessories, all of which make excellent holiday gifts for you or your loved ones. We recently caught up with Banu Yentur, the head designer behind this magical brand. Read what she has to say.

Describe Haremlique.

Our aim was to create a boutique home linens brand offering timelessly elegant pieces of luxurious quality. With the city of Istanbul as the birthplace and central driving force of the brand, the collections spring from what we gather in our travels from around the world and are shaped with a unique inspired interpretation.

How did you start your Haremlique?

It all started very spontaneously.  My present partner Caroline just approached me one day and proposed to start a business together and I just jumped right into it. The exciting adventure that began that day 6 years ago just keeps growing stronger with the passing years.

Speak about your previous work experience and how it helped you to create your brand.

The precious experience and knowledge that I gained from working numerous years in the textile industry have been invaluable to me in creating our brand. The contacts that I made in the past with various manufacturers and producers have helped me more than I can say and I cannot begin to express how thankful I am for their work and loyalty.

What are some of your endless inspirations?

One word: Traveling. And more much so than traveling but the desire to always discover and search for novelty, for the unknown. It is not about going to different countries, it?s about unveiling the magical details that are unique to different places or cultures; whether somewhere across the ocean or as close by as the next neighborhood in town.

How does travel inspire your collection?

When I travel somewhere I always let myself get fully absorbed by the energy and spirit of the place I am in. Everything I see, feel, smell or touch makes an impression on me that I carry back home. My inspirations usually don?t happen on the spot but later at work when new creations and designs are born from the flashbacks and memories of these travels.

Your collection continues to grow, what creative endeavors are on the horizon?

The adventure is ever growing and with every milestone comes greater excitement and motivation. As our business grows so do our collections and range of products; with our customer always in mind but never losing focus on the brand?s principal vision.
