Behind the Label: Aish

Aish is a brand we have long admired for its natural textiles and for the mission of it’s creator Nupur Goenka. It’s rare to find a founder and creative directer that has so seamlessly been able to work with textile craft communities in India to produce luxurious handmade products, that fit so well into our contemporary lives.

Having grown up in India with out any formal design training, Nupur’s journey began with a childhood love of textiles and the inspiration and encouragement of her large extended family. Many of Aish’s most treasured textiles are produced by entire families working harmoniously together to produce ten meters of fabric.

Aish’s luxurious handmade products have can be found across the globe, from workrooms in India to chic shops in New York , California and Tokyo. I love to wear my aish scarf as a sarong in summer , head wrap in spring and classic scarf in fall.Warning- these products are addictive, after you wear one, you will never travel again without an Aish scarf. The kaftans are newer additions to the collection and even though, due to the season we have yet to wear them, all of us in the Shop Latitude office are convinced we will be replacing our long summer dresses with Nupur’s fab woven caftans.
