Though the psychedelic Cheshire Cat may remain in Wonderland, those with an appreciation for all things Alice related can join the in trippy fun thanks to the 2nd Annual Massive Mad Hatter Tea Party. The first day of August in 2010 welcomed the first iteration of the celebration, complete with ?splendiferous? hats, over the top costumes, copious amounts of tea, and musical performances by Raya Brass Band. So successful it was, that Alice in Wonderland supporters are set to brush off their decorative toppers for a second tea party to toast to Lewis Carroll?s imagination! Seeing as New Yorkers are wont to go all out for events, it?s clear this festivity will have all the elements of last year and more. Revelers embodied all things Alice, from the hookah-smoking caterpillar to the distinguishable Queen of Hearts with her pursed lips, causing passersby to do double takes, as if they fell down the rabbit hole into another world. Don?t be late for this year?s tea party!

HELLO SUMMER
The temperature is heating up, my clothes are loosening up, and the sun is shining strong and long. Here is a round up of great Turkish beaches, they make for a spectacular summer destination.
First up is the Butterfly Valley; it really is a valley of butterflies! There are 80 different species in the area, the most popular being the exotic ?Tiger Butterfly?. I prefer this preserve when I want pristine tranquility; it instantly refreshes with vibrant, clean air, the sea, and lush green foliage. Both unique and extraordinary in the Mediterranean Region, it lies in the foothills of Baba Mountain and can only be reached by sea. One of natures finest treasures with free yoga, meditation and art classes available to all.
My second paradise to recommend is ?l? Deniz selected ?The Most Beautiful Beach of the World? in 2006. ?l? Deniz is a picturesque resort area, especially the main hillside town of Belcek?z, which has crystal clear water, and a long shingle beach curving away from the town promenade to a calm blue lagoon. In the same area as the Butterfly Valley (Mu?la- Fethiye) you can definitely swing a double header. Best of all, ?l? Deniz is the white-hot center of paragliding so while sunbathing, watch colorful parachutes in the sky or be adventurous and try parachuting your self.
The last retreat is my personal favorite where I go every summer, called ?e?me. Surrounded by the waters of the Aegean Sea, it lies 45 minutes west of Izmir in Turkey. Sea, nightlife and events make ?e?me irresistible for an amazing holiday. Il?ca and Ala?at? are ?must see? places in ?e?me. With its proximity to the city, it is a quick escape to paradise. Aside from gorgeous turquoise sea, many chic delicious restaurants, fun nightlife, fashion events and beach clubs, it is the highlight of my summer. If you want a social and active holiday, ?e?me is the beach for you.

For the chance to enjoy one of the most picturesque views of Bali, head to Rock Bar at the Ayana Resort and Spa ? an open bar situated over 45 feet above the Indian Ocean. Given the obvious attraction of unobstructed landscape views and ocean sunsets no matter your location in the venue, it?s clear Rock Bar is a regular must-visit above Ayana?s Kisik Beach and Jimbaran Bay.
The bar, designed by Yashuhiro Koichi, opened in July of 2009, and has since entertained newlyweds, families, lovers, and friends looking to partake in nature?s stunningly gorgeous display of beauty. With 360 degree views, the bar earned the title of one of CNNGo?s Top 30 Hotel Bars in the World, an award that?s clearly well deserved given the combination of coast line magic and marvelous panoramas.
As a play off the location, Rock Bar serves certain beverages actually on the rocks - in a fish bowl, surrounded by natural rocks. Maestro Laval Lim-Hon creates said signature cocktails, and has had the pleasure of mixing beverages for notables including Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco and Liza Minelli. With its pedigree and earthly wonders, Rock Bar easily earns a spot on any traveler?s must visit list.

Stina Persson?s provocative and worldly illustrations vibrantly personify destinations she has once called home. Born in Lund, Sweden in 1972, this graphic artist studied at the prestigious Academia in Perugia, Italy, then continued on to focus her craft in New York City while studying at Pratt. In between, she enjoyed life in Tokyo and Florence before returning to settle down in Stockholm.
Stina employs a variety of mediums, initially creating her luminous characterizations by hand, before enriching them digitally. Using rich jewel toned inks, watercolor dyes, Mexican cut paper, handwritten technique, photography and acrylic Stina always finds the right balance between new and iconic, raw and refined ultimately making the ugly prettier and the beautiful a little edgier.

While the Swedish aesthetic changes with each designer, a connective concept brings all of these creatives together. What some may see as simplistic or monochromatic is actually a nod to the real sense of Swedish fashion. Attention is heavily paid to the construction of a garment, showing the Swedes? passion for craftsmanship and fine tailoring.
Swedish trendsetters could easily match NYC's penchant for all-black with their love of a darker palette. With a firm grasp on understated cool and subtle sophistication, Stockholm is here to stay.

Despite all the pomp and spectacles that appear on the surface of a big Indian wedding ? marigolds, red carpets, brass bands, horses, elephants, fire eaters, the odd groom-carrying helicopter ? the real opulence lies behind the scene. Wrapped in tissue and tulle, showcased with creativity and attention detail that would put Saks? Christmas window display to shame, the best sight to behold is the bride?s trousseau. Despite all the...

30 Hudson Street
New York, NY, 10013
Meet David?s newest in the world of culinary delights, named Brushstroke. The restaurant sits on Hudson Street between Duane and Reade Streets, features a dining room with 65 seats, a lounge with 24 seats, and a massive kitchen that serves as the home to chefs Isao Yamada and Hiroki Murashima. But this is much more than just another Japanese restaurant serving up sushi and sashimi?.
David?s newest location focuses on cosy Kyoto-style seasonal dining, with an emphasis on the ingredients. And while the food takes center attention, the design details are just as spectacular: a live fish tank downstairs, Japanese seeds imported specially in order to grow produce, and over 20,000 recycled paperback books as the walls. With three years of planning, fifteen years of dreaming, and 10,000 sample dishes that David created, Brushstrokes left me full of more than just succulent Japanese delights.
"Fika" is a Swedish verb which translates to "take a coffee break", usually accompanied by something sweet and delicious.
I spent a summer in Malmo and Stockholm when I was 13 and my fondest memories are the meals, snacks and sweets that are miraculously light and richly decadent. The Swedish culinary sense of proportion is a refined visual experience full of casual exchange and good cheer.
With locations on lower Park Avenue, the financial district, 58th & 29th Streets, I can "fika" daily on New York City turf until my flight is booked for Stockholm.
