Situated on the pristine beaches of Tulum, Mexico, sits a hotel and spa that could best be described as a laid-back dreamscape for the creative cognoscenti and their tribes.

Coqui Coqui Residences + Spa, the brainchild of accessory designer Francesco Bonato and her partner Nico Maleville, is quietly putting itself on the map as one of the It Hotels in Mexico. Playing sister to the couple?s other locations in Valladolid and Coba, and a soon-to-be-opened site in M?rida, the hotel is a refuge for city dwellers and urban nomads.

Beach-chic is the way to roll here, with colonial-style suites that are minimally decorated, paying close attention to detail. Bath products and scented candles that are produced at Coqui Coqui?s own perfumery await guests in each suite. The gift shop sells accessories from Jacopo Janniello Ravagnan and Bonato?s accessory line, Hacienda Montaecristo and there is pop- up tent on the property selling Caravana Monatecristo, enough to make the hotel a mainstay. The spa focuses on holistic treatments centered on ancient rituals using all natural products, calling the Coqui Coqui experience, ?pure nature?. During high season, you might spot a model or a celebrity, but Coqui Coqui still manages to keep a low profile, focusing on hospitality and ambience that keep guests coming back.
