Welcome to the world of Isharya: The Indian-inspired jewelry collection with a dose of California cool. We are talking about a glam accessories collection favored by Hollywood and Bollywood. Splitting their time between Northern California and India, designers and sisters-in-laws Gauri and Radhika Tandon have created a luxe costume jewelry collection steeped in old-world Indian glamour and contemporary trends. Isharya's provocative gold-plated jewels combine bold colors with striking geometric angles to create some of our favorite on-trend chandelier earrings, jewel encrusted cuffs, and bold cocktail rings. We recently caught up with the label's co-founder, Radhika, and asked her to share the story behind her label.

How does travel inspire your collection? 

Travel takes us out of our comfort zone and daily routine. We tend to observe our surroundings more when we are taking in a new place. Our personal vacations almost always inspire a new jewelry collection. It could be something about the architecture, fashion, environment, or the vibe of the locals that could spark a new look for us.

 


Describe the Isharya brand in 3 words. 

Modern signifies our drive to continuously push the envelope of what is considered luxury ?Indian? jewelry. The design does not need to have precious metals, precious stones and be super expensive, but it should be effortless and well-made. We love using interesting silhouettes and mixed materials such as resin and mirror. Being based in both California and India, it was very important for the design to appeal to our customer in both places. 

 

Indian signifies our diverse culture and where we are from. We have always been attracted to the luxe heritage jewels owned by the Indian royalty, which served as an important foundation for the Isharya brand at its inception. 

 

Glamour is pretty self-explanatory. Our jewelry collections mostly consist of statement pieces ? each piece attracts attention when worn. The Isharya woman usually wears the jewelry when she is lunching with her girlfriends, or when she is out being her fabulous, glamorous self in the evening.

 

 

Your collection of products keeps growing. What creative endeavors are on the horizon?

We love to create new looks and as such, our design, product development, and marketing teams stay very busy.  We are currently focused on increasing our customer engagement online with social media platforms and offline with curated trunk show events.

 

 

Who is your muse? Describe the woman who wears Isharya.

Our muse changes with the times. We are currently obsessing over Mira Duma and Anna dello Russo?s personal style. The woman who wears Isharya is confident, loves to travel and is chic, glamorous and on trend.

 

 

Tell us about your favorite piece (or one of them) and where you were inspired to create it.

It?s really hard to select a favorite piece. While Gauri loves our mirror chandelier earrings from our Bollywood Glam group because it is a great way to effortlessly add a touch of glamour to one?s look, I gravitate to our cocktail rings. As a mom of two on the go, it is easy to thrown one on before I leave for the office, school event or dinner with my husband.

 

 



What do you love most about the city you live in, San Francisco?

I live in the San Francisco bay area so the gorgeous scenery, weather, and the excitement of being in the heart of the Silicon Valley techie start up scene keeps our family here.
