How does travel inspire your collection? Travel is the reason I am able to create and materialize my collections. I?ve always been a big travel junkie -- I know my wanderlust has influenced me subconsciously, consciously and aesthetically. Also, because I was lucky enough to travel to India quite a bit throughout my life, the idea of production in India was a very natural one for me. A life spent traveling has given me a sense of confidence and a fearless attitude.
What about India inspired you to create your collection? India is my first home, my birthplace. Even being so far away, it's inherently a part of me in many ways. It's bold, loud, colorful, spontaneous, beautiful in all its madness. It's similar to my other home, New York, which parallels many of the same attributes. Both are inspiring in very different ways, and in a really wonderful and collaborative way.
Tell us about your favorite piece (or one of them) and where you were inspired to create it.
One of my favorite pieces is the Neha Necklace. It's one of those pieces when you put on, you just feel really special and beautiful. It is "bling" without being overwhelming.
