The 1970?s marked the golden age of air travel, flying on one of the new 747 jumbo jets was a glamorous experience,only accessible to the rich,beautiful or powerful.This newly minted jet-set made the journey as important as the destination, often showing up at the airport in mink coats, mini dresses and perfectly tailored suits. Stewardess?s that looked like models wore designer uniforms when serving five course meals that included carving Chateaubriand seat side. Pan- Am the swankiest of all the carriers even had a spiral staircase in first class that connected passengers to an infamous upper deck lounge, even Pan Am clipper class (known today as coach) had an actual piano lounge with a piano!
